I’m not going to lie, I’m not quite sure what to write today.
Yesterday I put together a little post commenting on the new law here in California banning text messaging. Just like the hands-free phone legislation this one has many loop holes and the fines do not serve as a strong deterrent for motorists.
I’ve contemplated talking about the so called ‘economic crisis’ in the United States and the frustration I have with lawmakers and the media on the topic. Not that my degree in economics would serve as a catalyst for revolutionary discussion but I don’t understand the political maneuvering and biased media involved in the financial mess.I also have some questions about the political process in the United States and I’m not afraid to say I don’t understand all of the terms I hear on TV.
Only one person in this household can vote (not me) but I am very interested in the election campaigns here in the United States. They are very different from those in Canada and I can’t say for the better.
The last thing I wanted to post about stem from comments an blogs and others from various downtown Los Angeles message boards. Sharing ideas and opinions is fantastic, and the Internet has provided people with unprecedented access to others with similar interests and ideas. I love the passion people have for their neighborhoods, their parks, the restaurants, and anything else in life that means something to them. Unfortunately discussions turn into shouting contests even online, eventually breaking down to see who can scream the loudest and make outlandish comments unrelated to the topic. All of this lead H and I to talk …
How misunderstood are we? Take this blog for example. It started as a way to document our journey from Chicago to Los Angeles and has turned into a sometimes humours, sometimes serious look at our new city and neighborhood. Our ideas and thoughts are just that, nothing more and nothing less. The two of us can certainly understand how we may come across as whining about things in LA not being like Chicago, but really we are just stating the differences we encounter living in another part of the country, 2,000+ miles away from a city we spent the last five years. On one hand it makes me want to stand up and try to explain how innocent our thoughts and feelings are. At the same time I know it really doesn’t matter in the end.
So what am I going to write about today?
Nothing.
I think you have indulged me enough already. Thanks.

At least there will be Chase bank here now JP morgan took over Washington Mutual. Maybe you can re-open those checking account with them?
Brian, I really enjoy reading your blog even if I don’t agree with everything you say. I’ve also been smacked around by people on other blogs and what can I tell you? Some people like to use the intardnet to get out their aggressions in a safe way. Don’t take it too seriously.
I’ve been called any number of unrepeatable names during my “career” as a blogger. I’ve developed a thick skin, because I have to. In the end, you’ve always got to keep on truckin’.
I appreciate the kind words everyone.
I think whether it has been the blog sphere, business dealings or anything else the last few days I seem to be coming out on the short end
I think I possess the thick skin, developed in my previous career.
I just wanted to share with our readers that we aren’t belly-aching as much as we’re commenting and observing.
Hey Liz – I can’t believe our beloved Chase is now going to be here in LA … after us closing out all of our accounts.
Ugh
