Back during the Christmas season of 2007 H and I were given a Pottery Barn gift certificate from my aunt and grandmother. A year later we bought three different sized frames and planned to get some pictures done of Carter to display in our bedroom area.
An online friend was kind enough to take the photos we chose, make them black and white, adjust the colors, and crop appropriately for the frame.
Here are the three pictures we’ll be hanging as soon as Shutterfly delivers our photos.

Carter is so darn cute – thanks for the pictures
give him some cheese from grandma & grandpa!!
Carter sure is cute. We’re thinking about getting a Wheatie of our very own. We live downtown as well and have always wanted a dog, but sadly my girlfriend has allergies so we need a friend who is somewhat hypoallergenic. We’re also concerned with how he might do being home alone all day. Does Carter do ok when left alone for extended periods of time? I had planned on taking a few weeks off of work to get the new dog comfortable with the loft and new surroundings, but am a bit concerned with how he’ll do after that. Thanks so much.
Hi there and thanks for the comment.
Carter does fine when left for extended periods of time. Of course when he was a puppy it took some adjusting. He was cage trained for the first little while and eventually he got to the point where we could leave him out during the day. Of course there was one or two instances where we were gone for a really long time and he may have bit the end off a pillow or his bed and took all the stuffing out
Nowadays we routinely leave him on his own while we are both at work, usually for 9 hours. He sleeps the entire day away (we can tell from the indents on the bed spread) and does just fine.
As for allergies, no dog is truly hypoallergenic however breeds such as Carter (wheatens) are better for those with allergies, because he has hair and not fur. We find the odd hair here and there from him but that’s it – nothing else really. That was a requirement when searching breeds for us.
If you have any other questions don’t hesitate to ask!
Hi and thanks.
That’s a relief to hear. I’d love to have a wheatie, but I wouldn’t want to get one if he was unhappy being left alone all day. It doesn’t seem fair to bring him into an environment where he wouldn’t be comfortable.
I’ve raised a puppy before so I know all about the ’stuffing all over the floor if left alone too long bit’ and I’m prepared for that. I guess that’s just part of the joy right?
So Carter does well with loft living? I think I read you guys are over in Market. We’ve got plenty of space. We’ve got 3 stories and our own private rooftop patio so I think he’d be happy with the space. At least I hope.
Thanks for all the info. You’ve really given me a positive outlook and made me feel more confident in taking the next step towards adding a new family member.
Carter does well with loft living, very much so. That’s the thing our neighbors don’t quite understand when they see Carter on the street or in the halls. He loves to meet people, jump around and try and get other dogs to chase him when we’re on walks.
He gets in the house, eats a treat and goes to sleep
He does have a basket of toys that he sticks his nose in and we throw something around for a while.
We are over at Market – the three stories would work out well for a wheaten
The one thing I will tell you is to track down a reputable breeder.
