Eric & B - thank you both for your informed comments. I hate doing laundry, so having a washer of adequate size is a must:-) I will definitely be checking out the Mandel Lofts.

Hey Eric - good to 'see' you again!

Nicole - Yeah, the units at Milano are TINY! Too tiny! Our is much bigger than that one, only because our unit owner shelled out the money for it though. I have to imagine the smaller 'all in one' units are cheaper than our LG and because they are so small they can fit under a counter whereas ours is in a closet.

I'm pretty sure I remember the Met Lofts also having really small Euro washer and dryers.

The Mandel, on the corner of 7th and ummm Spring I think, had a full size washer and dyer in the unit. We were debating between the space we are in and there when it came down to the end. It too was in a closet and I remember saying out loud how great it would be to have a full size laundry area in unit.

Nicole- I've visited a lot of lofts/apts downtown, especially recently as I my lease is up end of July, and IF you get in-unit washer/dryer, it will be stackable Euro washer/dryer- maybe the combined unit like B & H's, but I have never seen those, only heard of them, nor have I seen a full size washer/dryer in a unit.

As for bed linens, with some of my heavier ones (flannel- in Cal King size) I make 2 loads out of them, including a duvet, but remember clothes get much smaller when wet, so a fair amount of towels fits in them, you would be surprised.

Or use fluff-and-fold, have a dry cleaner that picks up the laundry bags from your unit and delivers them back- no problem! (5th Street Cleaners does this).

I actually saw a unit where you had to cross the street, open a storage shed with a padlock and then pay money to use the one washer and one dryer (Chinatown). NOT!

Thank you! I just visited the Milano lofts - the washer/dryer unit was TINY:-\ Is that the size those Euro style washer/dryers usually come in? How on earth do people wash their bedsheets in them?

We do have a Euro style washer/dryer all in one drum - they are good and bad.

Good: No switching over loads and clothes come out cleaner than other units.
Bad: Takes a little longer to do loads, maybe .5-1 hours.

One thing we noticed on our downtown loft hunt (let us know if you need help!) is many of the Euro units had a really, really small drum, thus allowing quite small loads only. Ours in an LG and had a good sized drum, we do about the same size load as we used to in our stackable.

Yay! I'm glad the nightmare is over:-) As a current loft-hunter, I'm curious to know, did your loft come with a full-capacity washer & dryer? I've heard so many horror stories about these other types of tiny, European-style washer/dryer combos that seem to be in most of the downtown lofts (i.e, take longer, require frequent, smaller loads, etc.)
p.s. Please post more pics of Carter:-)
